First Profile Identification Workshop in Leuven

Representatives from companies, research centres and universities met on 19 May 2015 in Leuven to discuss the developing needs of the energy sector regarding skills and training of university graduates.

Ten invited guests from Belgium, the Netherlands and the United States kicked off the series of six profile identification workshops that are part of the UNI-SET project. The invitation-only event was organised by the project partners of KU Leuven and KIC InnoEnergy.

EUA-EPUE and European Energy Research Alliance agree on enhanced cooperation

On Wednesday, 29 April 2015, the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EUA and its European Platform of Universities in Energy Research & Education (EUA-EPUE).

The MoU was signed by EERA Chairman Hervé Bernard and EUA President Professor Maria Helena Nazaré and took place during the EERA General Assembly, ahead of the 5th EERA Annual Congress on 30 April 2015.

"Energy Research and Education" are hot topics at EUA Annual Conference 2015

During its annual conference in Antwerp, Belgium (16-17 April 2015), EUA launched UNI-SET and debated the role of universities in moving Europe to a low-carbon society in a Hot Topic session dedicated to ‘Energy Research and Education’.

Advanced energy technologies are crucial when fighting against climate change and securing energy supply. By 2050, the EU aims to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 80-95% in relation to 1990 levels. This requires the transformation of the entire energy system using new and yet to be developed energy solutions. It also requires the development of new professional competences and skills.
