1st UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event: Universities enhancing their role in the energy transition

Around 100 participants from 22 countries gathered in Trondheim, Norway from 24 to 26 February 2016 to take part in the 1st UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event. Entitled "Human resources and new knowledge to build the future energy system", the event took place at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). It was jointly organised by the UNI-SET team at EUA, KU Leuven and NTNU. This was the first of the five Energy Clustering Events (ECEs) scheduled in 2016 and 2017 to discuss and stimulate cooperation for the development of innovative research and education programmes in the energy field.

UNI-SET has coordinated the response of the European Platform of Universities in Energy Research & Education (EUA-EPUE) to the consultative process launched by the European Commission on the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan), providing the perspective of the university community on the Key Actions outlined in the SET-Plan Communication of September 2015 (C(2015)6317).

UNI-SET Professional Profile Identification Workshop at European Utility Week

European representatives from companies, research centres and universities, as well as several KIC InnoEnergy MSc and PhD students, met on 5 November 2015 in Vienna, Austria, to discuss the developing needs of the energy sector regarding skills and competences of university graduates. The workshop took place during the European Utility Week (EUW), which gathers companies and representatives in the field of smart cities and smart grids. The workshop was open to all attendees of the EUW event.
